It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to see all 7 of the Wonders of the Modern World.
1. Colosseum, Italy
2. Great Wall of China
3. Chichen Itza, Mexico
4. Taj Mahal, India
5. Christ the Redeemer, Brazil
6. Petra, Jordan
7. Machu Pichu, Peru
While one tower was being restored during this visit, I was lucky enough to do a sunrise ticket viewing which had a huge section with the best view, and not yet any other visitors. I was able to capture an amazing time-lapse of the sunrise over the monument.
One of the most difficult to access (and so far my favorite). I opted to go on a private tour group and hike a long section of the wall (optional to camp on the wall!). Walking the wild (unrestored) sections of the wall was fascinating and absolutely stunning!
My first world wonder. I visited in 2014.
Surprisingly my least favorite ‘7 wonders’ monuments so far. While stunning and fascinating, I will argue that Angkor Wat in Cambodia is far more impressive.

Funky Fact: Christ the Redeemer Statue in Brazil gets hit around three to six times a year by lightning. Once a lightning strike broke off his thumb!
