Porto, Portugal is a city that is rich in history and culture, making it a must-visit destination for any traveler. From its stunning architecture and delicious cuisine, to its beautiful beaches and lively nightlife, there is something for everyone in this vibrant city.

Here are just a few of the top things that should be on your Porto travel bucket list:
- Visit the Porto Cathedral: This stunning cathedral is a must-see for any traveler visiting Porto. The cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century, is a prime example of Romanesque architecture and features beautiful stained glass windows and a Baroque altarpiece.
- Take a stroll along the Douro River: The Douro River runs through the heart of Porto and is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and soak in the city’s beautiful scenery. Along the way, you can stop at one of the many cafes or restaurants that line the river and enjoy a cup of coffee or a delicious meal.

Be sure to try some of the different varieties of Port wine while you’re in town. I loved Quevedo, they were open late, had lots of seating and has wonderful staff.
- Visit the Mercado do Bolhão: This bustling market is a great place to experience the local culture and pick up some fresh produce or handmade crafts. You can also grab a bite to eat at one of the many food stalls that can be found inside the market.
- Take a trip to the Beach: Porto is just a short drive from some beautiful beaches, including Matosinhos and Foz do Douro. Be sure to pack your swimsuit and spend a day soaking up the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze.
- Explore the city’s museums and galleries: Porto is home to many museums and galleries that showcase the city’s rich history and culture. Some must-see museums include the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and the Soares dos Reis National Museum.
- Don’t forget to try the local cuisine: Porto is known for its delicious food, and you won’t want to miss out on trying some of the local specialties. Some must-try dishes include francesinha, a sandwich filled with meat and topped with cheese and a spicy sauce, and pastel de nata, a flaky pastry filled with creamy custard.
